Quick Home Remedies That Every Mother Should Know

As a mother there are certain home remedies which you should be aware of so that you can prevent yourself from being caught in a difficult situation. There are times when mothers are all alone and cannot rush to the doctors immediately. Certain home remedies will bring a much needed respite at the hour of their need. Let us have a quick glance at some of these remedies.

Fever:

If the fever is high, then give your kid a tepid bath. Two pair of socks soaked in apple cider vinegar should be ready with you. Place these socks around the wrists and on the feet. This will bring down the fever that is below 102 degree Celsius. But, if the fever is more than this then you should consult the physician immediately.

Sore Throat:

For sore throat, salt water gargles have been found to be very effective. They bring relief to the aching throat also. Mix a tablespoonful of salt to a cup of lukewarm water. Gargle your throat with this mixture and spit. Taking in this water also brings relief. You can also consider having icy cold popsicles.

Ear Infections:

If your ear or ear of your kid begins to pain use oregano (Ajwain Leaves) oil. Since the oil is antimicrobial, it can kill the infections caused by bacteria, viruses and fungus. The oil cannot be used in a concentrated form so dilute it with olive oil prior to using.

  • Pluck some leaves of marigold and take out its juice. Drop this juice in the aching ear to get instant relief.
  • If pain is due to the wax in the ear, then pour in a few drops of warm mustard oil. This will dissolve the wax and it will come out.

Cough:

Mix ½ lemon juice with 2-3 tbsp of honey and sip this mixture to get rid of coughs. Mix a piece of ginger with honey and eat it to be comfortable.

Headaches:

You can either use lavender/peppermint oil to inhale or apply topically over your temples or you can pluck the fresh leaves of mint (pudina) from your backyard, grind these leaves and apply over your forehead. Mint dilates the blood vessels and bring immediate relief.

For Bug/insect Bites:

If a bug or any other insect has bitten you, you should apply the mixture of camphor (kapoor) and coconut oil. This will stop the itching or check the redness/swelling if any. You can also use the mixture of baking soda + water.

Vomiting Sensation:

Nausea can be effectively controlled by cardamom (choti elachi). Chew it to feel comfortable when you feel like vomiting.

There are several other home remedies like applying banana over the warts, Aloe vera to get relieved from sunburns and breast milk for pink eyes due to infection.
