The health benefits of lemon water are immense
Did you know that lemon water also hydrates your body? It’s an important morning beverage. In addition to re-hydrating, it also has vitamin C and other antioxidants which many people say can help with the following:
- aid in digestion
- promote regular wiping (poop)
- boosting your immune system
- Give your body the resources it needs to function at its best.
- The citric acid and lemon juice found in lemons helps maintain a proper pH balance for your overall health.
Drinking lemon water each morning can support weight loss and skin health, as it boosts the body’s natural digestion and detoxification processes.
How to make lemon water
This iced elixir is incredibly easy to make:
Place half a lemon in 1 cup of water and drink first thing in the morning.
(No lemons here? Try a lime instead!)
Don’t you hate it when you squish the fruit to get the juice and end up getting seeds all over the place? For minimal clean-up, our favorite citrus juicer will do all the work for you.
How to Wash Lemons
If you don’t wash your lemons before you cut them open, then a lot of the yucky stuff will get into the juice. The germs and wax won’t stand a chance against the natural lemon peel’s abrasive surface. You might as well wash them.
We often hear people say that lemons aren’t completely clean. To ensure your lemons are squeaky clean, soak the peels for 12-15 minutes in a large bowl of water with 1 tsp. of baking soda. Scrub off any dirt and rinse well. Pat dry before juicing.
